Where we are
Carpe Diem sits between Ryn and Mikołajki, near Giżycko and Mrągowo. Directly on Lake Tałtowisko, close to Lakes Tałty and Ryńskie.
The Masurian Cycling Loop passes 200 m from the cabin — that gravel road you can see from the veranda. The public beach on Tałtowisko — 300 m on foot, managed by a local association, quiet and ideal for swimming.
Four towns, four moods
Mikołajki — 25 min by bike. The "Masurian Venice", between Lakes Tałty and Mikołajskie. The most touristic town in the area — good for one afternoon.
Ryn — 25 min by bike. An impressive 14th-century Teutonic Knights castle (now a hotel and conference centre). Modern promenade with restaurants, a sailing marina.
Giżycko — 75 min by bike. 19th-century Boyen Fortress, the Water Tower, the swing bridge on the Łuczański Canal. A significant sailing hub.
Mrągowo — 80 min by bike. Festivals (Country Picnic), historic centre, Lakes Czos and Juno. The demanding Poręby Bike Park.
Port Zanzibar — visible from the veranda
Port Zanzibar is visible from our veranda. 70 mooring spaces across four piers, a remarkable atmosphere shaped by the harbourmaster and crew. The wooden Zanzibar tavern serves very good food and drinks, with concerts in the evenings.
An evening at Zanzibar is our default recommendation for guests wanting to step out. Five minutes on foot, port atmosphere, good music.
